Fighting internet criminals is a never ending war. Business owners struggle to keep on top of security processes and policies or worse we ignore the risks. The cost of cyber crime in Dorset alone year ending 2019 was £30,000,000.00 which is a staggering amount for a small county. Not only do we need to be aware of the risks we need to start tackling them andthe first step is sharing within the business community how fraudsters gain access to our systems. Anytech Solutions held a security briefing for local business leaders, watch the recording and learn how you can start to protect your business data, staff and the revenue you have built.

Action Fraud – a new national reporting centre for all fraud and cyber crime – is to launch in Dorset and the South West region.
Action Fraud goes live in Dorset today – Monday 3 December 2012. It will also be live across the other police force areas in the South West Region – Devon and Cornwall, Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
It means that members of the public and businesses can report incidents of fraud to a ‘one stop shop’ rather than to their local police force.
From 3 December, the public should call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ to report a scam or fraud.
However in an emergency – where a crime is in progress or life is at risk – always dial 999.
While Action Fraud is a reporting service, it also provides victims with advice and guidance on how to limit their chances of becoming a repeat victim of this type of crime and, if requested, initiates contact for them from the Victim Support Service.
Detective Chief Inspector John Crossland, of Dorset Police, said: “Action Fraud will provide the latest information and advice regarding types of scams and fraud. It will benefit the public by ensuring a consistent service to victims wherever they are calling from, right across the country.
“By collating all the information in one place, Action Fraud will also enable greater analysis of trends and links between crimes which should assist police investigations.”

We are delighted to share with you the news that our entry under the category ‘Customer Service Excellence’ in the 2017 Dorset Business Awards has been chosen as one of the finalists. As you can imagine, this is a popular category which attracted a wide range of entries and was very challenging for the judges to select three finalists. We take customer service very seriously so we are delighted to have been chosen.
It was the perfect match when a Dorset business owner rubbed shoulders with David Cameron at a Black History Month reception.
Chris Palmer, Managing Director of Anytech Solutions, talked tennis with the PM as well as small businesses and the successes of his own Poole-based IT firm. He represented Dorset and the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at the celebration at Downing Street to mark Black History Month. Chris also chatted with former England football ace Sol Campbell, Saville Rows first black tailor Ozwald Boateng and other inspirational role models from the black community.
DCCI Chief Executive Ian Girling nominated Chris after an emailed request by Downing Street for black entrepreneurs and business leaders to attend the prestigious event. Chris, who was with Ian in his office judging Dorset Business Award entries when the email arrived, said: it was an amazing honour to attend and represent Dorset and DCCI. “David Cameron was polite and well prepared. We chatted in great detail about small businesses and he asked about Anytech Solutions. “He was particularly interested to hear about our services for the NHS, primarily in psychiatric patient care computing needs.”
Anytech Solutions services include business support services, B2C support and supply of hardware and software for personal and business users, cloud and hosted services, sales and high performance computers for CAD, 3D Rendering and Gaming machines.
Chris, who started the business with wife Vivienne in 2004, added: “”Knowing the PM is a massive tennis fan, I raised the subject and that was when he came closer and we compared favourite players. “I said that Nadal was always up there but Federer is a dream to watch.
He said that Federer was also his favourite player, and told me about his claim to fame when he asked Boris Becker to give him a proper full power serve, which he managed to return.
“It was a fantastic day and a phenomenal experience that I shall never forget.” Chris said that the event was also valuable from a networking point of view. As well as meeting Mr Campbell and Mr Boateng, he also exchanged business cards with a DNA specialist with his own company, a professor from Imperial College London and the first ever Apprentice winner Tim Campbell. Now he is due to return to London in late November for a business dinner being organised by Mr Campbell.
Anytech Solutions is based in Stanley House in Fleets Lane, Poole, and re-branded from Doctor PC in July of this year. Black History Month is held every October to celebrate the African-Caribbean community and their contribution to Great Britain as well as promote knowledge of black history, culture and heritage.
A Poole IT firm has thrown its weight behind a Bournemouth-based charity which provides free holidays for teenagers and young people with cancer.
AnyTech Solutions has chosen the Youth Cancer Trust (YCT) as its charity of the year after being impressed by the valuable work it does for hundreds of 14 to 30 year olds every year.
The trust welcomes guests from anywhere in the UK and Ireland to stay in its Tracy Ann House at Alum Chine in Bournemouth where they can relax and enjoy activities.
AnyTech’s support has already enabled guests to have fast, reliable access to the internet. The Fleets Lane company also plans to offer more IT expertise and support along with promoting the charity wherever possible.
Chris Palmer, who is AnyTech Solutions Managing Director, said: “The trust’s holidays are tremendously valuable in helping young people with cancer relax and have fun just like any other young person.
“At the same time, they offer the opportunity for them to mix with peers who understand what it is like to have cancer.
“We are proud to play a part in this vital work and hope that our support will allow the trust to help even more young people.”
The YCT receives no government funding and needs to raise about £350,000 a year.
It was founded by Brenda Clark in 1997 and helps about 250 young cancer patients annually.
It costs £500 to provide a holiday for a young person and £4,000 for a group of eight young people.
Brenda said: “We are incredibly grateful to AnyTech for choosing us as their charity of the year.
“We would not be able to offer the help we do without the backing of such companies as AnyTech as well as our other wonderful supporters, fundraisers and volunteers.”
